Administrative

·        Check the roster for errors and correct.

·        Please sign up to host meetings and/or chaperone. Chaperone is in charge of bringing beverages and is to attend ground school and keep members in order (paying attention, giving respect to instructor)

·        Jan 9 & 23 Membership Drives. 

News from National/VA Region

·        Exceeds Standards Program (ESP) open to all C2's; C1's who are 13 and older; and D3's who are 15 and older with a recommendation from their DC. 

o       January 9: Shea Porr - Nutrition, Warrenton Visitors Center, 9:30 a.m.

o       January 16: Todd Burdick - equine dentistry, Warrenton Visitor Center, 9:30 a.m.

o       January 23: Julie Mathis - master farrier,  Four Winds Farm, Nokesville, 1:00 p.m.

o       February 6: Annette Gavin  - location TBD

·        Feb 7. Annual HM Seminar Who?  Anyone who wants to learn bunches of HM stuff.  Or wants to receive training in being an Assistant Horse Management Judge (very handy at rallies).  Or wants to teach an HM topic.  Do not be scared.  This is a very laid back, relaxed, fun event.   So come learn!  Come teach!   Location?

·        Jan 27-31. USPC Annual Meeting Houston, TX . All are welcome to attend. Attending members so far are Barbara  & Janis Shurtleff and Kevne Hull. Checkout the full agenda at www.annualmeeting.ponyclub.org

·        Feb 20. VA Regional Council Meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend. Planning for Virginia Region for 2010.

DVPC Clinics/Ground Schools

·        Tonight’s ground school is on goal setting and health/maintenance record books (thanks to Sandy for putting this together).

·        Jan 24 Winter Clinic -Ride to Music clinic with Mike Matson – match your horse’s gaits to music selections and start working on a musical freestyle (or just have fun dancing!)

·        Flowcharts. Guidelines for who can sign off. Completed flowcharts are required when applying for a new rating. Flowcharts are signed off as members learn the material. Plan ahead to your rating; there is ample time to have flowcharts signed off –ground schools and clinics are a great time to get this done. Always bring your flowchart!

Horse Trial at Foxcroft School rescheduled new date April 25th! 

·        Volunteer positions available. Please volunteer to chair or assist, preparing to take over the job in the next season or so.

·        Reschedule HT setup from 4/17 to 4/24?

Rallies

·        Feb. 28 Quiz Rally in Millwood, VA. Application due at first prep Jan 25. Sandy Arnold, coordinator. Preps:

o       Jan 25 6:30 to 8pm

o       Feb. 3  6:30 to 8pm

o       Feb. 8 6 to 8pm

o       Feb 16 6:30 to 8pm

o       Feb 22 6:30 to 8pm

Ratings

·        Deadline for the Virginia Region May HB Test has been extended. The candidate application deadline for tests being held between February 26th and May 31st has been extended from January 15th to February 1st.

·        Sponsors. If you wish to be a Sponsor (a voting member), please consider whether you are available to attend the Sponsor meeting on Oct. 21. Cost $5 to  DVPC.
